The paradox of 2026 is that the more artificial intelligence saturates our digital lives, the more valuable a handshake becomes. As inboxes flood with AI-generated outreach and screen fatigue becomes the default state, a counter-movement is gaining ground. Against this backdrop of digital noise and physical overload, the events that thrive are not those that shout the loudest, but those that offer a clear, concentrated value.

A Hub for the Full Tech Lifecycle

In Eastern Europe, this strategic focus is crystallising in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Techsylvania, scheduled for 24-25 June at the Cluj Innovation Park, is the capstone of a two-month period that showcases the region’s entire innovation pipeline.

The season begins with Cluj Innovation Days, focusing on policy and academic research, and continues with The Developers, a deep-dive engineering conference. Together, these events create a unique narrative, allowing a visitor to witness the full journey from talent development to commercialisation and venture capital at Techsylvania. It is a concentrated demonstration of a mature ecosystem for investors and strategic partners.

Techsylvania

Now in its 12th year, Techsylvania has evolved into the flagship deal-making event for the region, expected to draw over 3,000 participants from more than 30 countries. Its stages have previously hosted leaders like Tim Draper of Draper Associates and Daniel Dines, founder of UiPath.

The real value, however, may lie beyond the keynotes. The event is structured as a multi-layered marketplace designed for outcomes. The agenda is built around engineering trust, transformation, and visionary leadership, with a practical focus on AI, product development, and business growth.

The event features a dedicated platform for emerging companies to connect with investors and partners, executive roundtables, and technical workshops.

Past editions have reportedly facilitated over €20 million in deals annually. In an era where cold emails yield a 2% response rate, the nearly 40% conversion rate that can come from in-person meetings makes a compelling case for attending.

Speakers

The 2026 speaker lineup spans the full tech stack — from global platforms to regional builders. On the big-company side, Guido Brinkel represents OpenAI as Policy & Partnerships Lead for Germany and CEE, while Michael Buzinover brings a product perspective shaped by stints at TikTok and Perplexity. The investor bench includes Hermann Hauser, co-founder of Amadeus Capital Partners, Nenad Marovac of DN Capital, and Jon Staenberg of Agate Hound Fund. On the founder side, Sacha Dragic, Jeanie Fang (Crunchbase), and Vladimir Danila (Linearity) join Romanian voices like Vadim Toader and Oana Ruxandra. The lineup also reaches into less obvious territory: Mark Porter, former CTO of MongoDB and dbt Labs, covers engineering leadership; Dr. Farid Khan represents bioentrepreneurship; and Laura Calmore, a mindfulness facilitator, signals the event's interest in the human side of high-performance work.

Techsylvania will take place on June 24-25, 2026 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and discounted tickets are still available.
