Themes for 2026

What's different this year is the subject matter: instead of another round on faster checkout and broader access, the agenda turns to the parts of payments infrastructure that increasingly make their own decisions, and what happens when they get it wrong.

The four main tracks follow:

  1. Innovation and agent payments
  2. Open banking and embedded finance
  3. The transformation underway in wealth management
  4. Fraud, financial crime and cybersecurity

For the first time, DIGI PAY opens the floor to AI agents in payments, starting with the debate "Next Gen Innovation: Agentic AI in Payments — Ready or Cautious?" A later panel goes further into deepfakes, biometric attacks and the identity checks meant to catch them, running alongside a parallel session on the security of Bulgaria's new digital wallet.

The pattern across both: the more of a transaction that runs without a human in it, the more the system depends on knowing who, or what, is actually on the other end.
